Our Authors
Clint Johnson
Clint is the driving force and founder of Anahana. Clint teaches Yoga, Pilates, mindful breathing, and meditation, catering to a global community of students and teachers. Before venturing into the world of health and wellness, Clint earned his MBA from INSEAD, after which he embarked on his journey as an MBS derivative trader and portfolio manager on Wall Street. Clint began his venture into the wellness world as he realized the importance of altering his lifestyle to prioritize his health and well-being. Clint founded Anahana with the hopes of helping people to live healthier and happier lives.
Sydney Garden
Sydney is a skilled writer and editor at Anahana with a diverse educational and professional background. Sydney received her BA (Honors) in Communications from Toronto Metropolitan University and is furthering her education by pursuing her MSc in Human Resource Management at the University of Stirling. Sydney has professional marketing and communications experience, creating articles, research reports, and more for an award-winning design agency: Shikantani Lacroix Design. Sydney’s connection to wellness and yoga stems from growing up in elite competitive dancing, which later evolved into a passion for yoga practice and physical well-being.
Darlene Buan-Basit
Dr. Darlene Buan-Basit is a highly experienced licensed Chiropractor and Pilates instructor with expertise in many techniques, including Medical Acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Advanced Massage Techniques. She is also highly trained in movement therapies, including Pilates, Yoga, and Garuda. She works with a diverse clientele, including high-level athletes, seniors, and infants, addressing musculoskeletal injuries, chronic pain, and feeding challenges in infants.
Sally Belanger
Sally Belanger is a Registered Kinesiologist with extensive knowledge of biomechanics, human anatomy, and movement analysis. Sally has 18 years of experience working with high-level athletes. At Link Advanced Movement Mechanics, Sally works with a team of professionals to help people improve their mobility, strength, and stability. Through her extensive knowledge and expertise, Sally educates her clients on how to improve their physical performance.
Lujayn Mostafa
Lujayn (Lulu) is a Anahana writer and editor as well as a soon to be a graduate of the M.Ed. in Developmental Psychology and Education program at OISE, University of Toronto. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from The American University in Cairo, with a double minor in Anthropology and Educational Studies. She is eager to continue her studies in the field of psychotherapy. Lulu has diverse professional experience, including working in writing, editing, counseling, and assisting university professors. Her passions and hobbies include spending time with family and friends, nature, reading, yoga, and psychology.
Jesse Guilbert
Jesse is a registered nurse who brings her educational background and healthcare experience to the Anahana writing and editing team. Jesse graduated with a Bachelor's in French Nursing from Laurentian University. Jesse has diverse healthcare experience including working as a personal support, camp medic, and a laboratory assistant. Jesse’s education emphasized mental health training, crisis intervention, and promoting well-being through patient education. Jesse is passionate about health and wellness, and regularly participates in sports including hockey, basketball, and running and training at the gym.
Laura Schulze
Laura is a writer and editor at Anahana, interested in neuroscience, mental health, and evidence-based care. She holds a PhD in Medical Science and has over a decade of experience in mental health research in industry and academia. Her passion lies in exploring the potential of neurotech and utilizing data-driven insights to understand and support mental well-being. She also deeply values the role of community and collective well-being in fostering positive mental health outcomes. Laura actively incorporates holistic practices like mindful walks through High Park and morning yoga into her self-care routine (Pigeon pose is her personal fave!).
