Mindfulness derives from sati, a significant element of Buddhist traditions, and based on Zen, Vipassanā, and Tibetan meditation techniques. The meaning of mindfulness is about maintaining awareness of thoughts, feelings, sensations, and surrounding environment with a gentle, nurturing touch. Mindfulness is all about being in tune with the here and now, the present, rather than thinking of the past or what the future might bring. Mindfulness is all about the present moment, keeping yourself centered without passing judgement onto others. This can be achieved through a series of different meditation techniques. Many of which our instructors here at Anahana can teach you.
